My journey…
Over the course of six years, my life fell apart. Divorce. Faith deconstruction. Identity collapse. Multiple layoffs and cross-country moves. Everything I'd built for 50 years unraveled.
I was raised Catholic, became evangelical in my forties, then had a spiritual experience that cracked everything open. My faith was completely deconstructed. With each loss - marriage, career, belief - another layer of identity stripped away. I tried filling the void with new spiritual systems, but I was merely swapping beliefs, grasping for certainty.
When everything falls apart, you learn to surrender. I'm in reconstruction now, letting go of old promises and expectations, and learning to be present. For a type-A planner, this doesn't come naturally.
I'm completing my spiritual direction certification with the Center for Non-Religious Spirituality to offer what I needed most: companionship through the wilderness. I don't have certainty to offer, just presence. I walk with people building something new - or learning to live with nothing.
